Safety First !!!
Duty to warn
About 25 million Americans use propane for everything from cooking, hot water, and heating their homes, to weed killing, standby generators, and crop drying on their farms. But like any fuel, there are things you must know about propane to handle it safely. Consider these facts:
• Propane is heavier than air. If it leaks, the gas will collect first in low places, so mount gas detectors near the floor.

•
Propane is naturally odorless; the smell is created with a chemical additive called Mercaptin. This gives propane the familiar smell of "rotten eggs". If you are  unfamiliar with this odor, call us.

Remember: When you smell propane odor no matter how weak or strong, treat it as a possible leak. Call us immediately. (607) 652-7951

Propane has an odorant added to it to make noticeable in case of a leak. Many people will associate the smell with rotten eggs, sewer gas, or even a dead animal.

If you ever think you smell gas there are some things you can do to prevent and accident:

Extinguish all open flames.
Get everyone out of the building immediately.
Do not turn on or off any appliances or lights. Do not use the phone to call.
If you can safely do so, shut off gas supply using the valves on the tank(s).
Use a neighbors phone to call us immediately.
Do not re-enter the building.

Only trained personnel should be allowed into the building to correct the problem.
If you have any other questions please call us. (607) 652-7951
